(GSM Insider) - NVIDIA Officially Unveils Tegra 4i, SoC With Integrated 4G LTE Chip.

At the CES 2013, NVIDIA unveiled the Tegra 4 mobile processor. NVIDIA labelled it as the world's fastest mobile processor. At the same time, NVIDIA also confirmed that it will announce a new 4G LTE SoC. Finally, the 4G LTE SoC is here. 

NVIDIA officially announces the Tegra 4i which is known as the 1st Integrated Tegra 4 LTE processor. Before that, the Tegra 4i was known as the Project Grey while the Tegra 4 was known as the Project Wayne. 

Tegra 4i is a quad-core processor that is based on Cortex A9 Architecture and clocked up to 2.3GHz. Tegra 4i using the 4+1 technology where the extra processor is for battery saving purpose. When no heavy usage of the device, the "fifth" processor will be used. Furthermore, the Tegra 4i has 60 NVIDIA GPU cores. 

According to NVIDIA, Tegra 4i was designed together by NVIDIA and ARM. It is the most energy efficient processor in the market. Tegra 4 and Tegra 4i has the same GPU architecture. The cores in the GPU are 5 more than the Tegra 3. You shall see devices that are powered by Tegra 4i coming later this year.
